About SolarLayout
What is SolarLayout?+
SolarLayout is a web application that automates utility-scale fixed-tilt PV plant layout design. Upload a KMZ boundary, configure parameters, and generate a complete layout with table placement, cable routing, and energy yield — all in your browser.
What file format do I need?+
KMZ (Google Earth). Your site boundary must be drawn as polygons. Exclusion zones for obstacles are also read from the KMZ.
Do I need to install anything?+
No. SolarLayout runs entirely in your browser — there is nothing to download or install. Sign in and start generating layouts.
Where do the calculations run?+
Layouts are generated in the cloud and streamed back to your browser, so even large plants do not tie up your machine. You need an internet connection while a layout is generating.
Plans & access
What's the difference between the three plans?+
Basic: layout only. Pro: layout + cable routing. Pro Plus: layout + cables + energy yield analysis.
How do I get started?+
Sign in, then buy a calculation pack from the Billing page in your dashboard. Your calculations are ready to use immediately — there is nothing to download.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Every new account starts with a Pro Plus Trial — 5 full-featured calculations, no credit card required.
Can I try before I buy?+
Yes — the Pro Plus Trial gives you 5 full-featured calculations to run the complete workflow end to end.
Entitlements & calculations
What counts as one calculation?+
Each time you generate a layout from a boundary file counts as one calculation.
What happens when I run out?+
You can purchase a top-up pack at any time at the same per-calculation rate.
Can I top up?+
Yes. Buy additional packs at any time from the Billing page at the same per-calculation rate.
Is my entitlement tied to one machine?+
No. Your entitlement is tied to your account (email), so you can sign in and use it from any browser.
Payments
How do I purchase?+
Sign in and buy a pack from the Billing page in your dashboard. Checkout is handled securely by Stripe.
What payment methods?+
We accept major credit and debit cards via Stripe.
Will I receive a receipt?+
Yes, a confirmation email is sent after purchase.
