Plans & quotas

SolarLayout's Pro Plus Trial and prepaid packs, what each includes, and how calc billing works.

SolarLayout uses prepaid packs at launch. Sign up to get 5 free calcs of Pro Plus to try the full product end-to-end; buy a pack when you need more. No subscription, no monthly commitment.

Tiers

TierPriceCalcsProject slotsFeatures included
Pro Plus Trial$053All — layout, exclusions, cables, energy yield
Basic$9.9955Layout + exclusions
Pro$24.991510Layout + exclusions + cable routing & quantities
Pro Plus$49.993015Everything (incl. energy yield + generation estimates)

A few notes on this table:

  • The trial is full-fat for the first 5 calcs. Trial signups get every feature — layout placement, exclusion zones, cable routing, energy yield, and generation estimates — for those initial calcs. The intent is to let you evaluate the whole product end-to-end before paying. After 5 calcs the trial is exhausted; there's no continued free use.
  • Paid packs trade off price against feature breadth and calc count. Basic is the cheapest paid entry. Pro adds cable routing. Pro Plus adds energy yield + bankable generation estimates and the largest calc count.
  • Project slots is the number of active (not-soft-deleted) projects allowed on the account at once. Deleting an old project frees its slot.
  • Packs don't expire. Calcs in your account stay until you use them. Buy multiple packs if you'll need more than a single pack provides in a cycle.

What counts as one calc

One calc = one Generate click that submits successfully and completes.

So:

  • Generate on a single-plot project → 1 calc.
  • Generate on a multi-plot project → still 1 calc (the whole multi-plot job is one billable unit, regardless of plot count).
  • Cancelling before completion → 0 calcs. The calc is refunded to your balance automatically when you click Cancel.
  • A layout that fails entirely → 0 calcs. Failed layouts trigger an automatic refund to your balance.
  • A layout where some plots fail but others succeed → 1 calc. The job completed; partial results are still useful.

PDF export, KMZ export, DXF export, and CSV export are free — they don't consume calcs. The calc is the design compute; the exports are just packaging.

Where to buy

Purchase happens on solarlayout.app:

  • Sign in / sign up at solarlayout.app.
  • Dashboard → Plans to see current pack options.
  • Stripe handles the transaction.

Right after purchase you receive:

  • The new calcs appear in your existing balance on the next refresh in the desktop app. Nothing to enter, nothing to copy.
  • An invoice by email, also accessible later from the Dashboard.

Refunds and changes

  • Unused packs can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if none of the calcs have been consumed.
  • Partially used packs are non-refundable.

Subscription tiers (planned)

Two subscription tiers are on the roadmap for teams running high enough volume that pack economics stop working:

  • Solo Pro — for an individual user doing many layouts per week.
  • Team Starter — for small bid teams, with a shared calc pool and basic team admin.

Pricing, calc allowances, and exact ship dates are not yet finalised; this section will be updated when they are.

Support

Every plan can file a ticket from the desktop app. The difference is the reply window:

PlanFirst-reply window
Trial / BasicCommunity-best-effort. No committed window.
ProWithin 2 business days.
Pro PlusWithin 8 business hours.

Business hours are 09:00–18:00 IST on weekdays. The window covers the first reply on a new ticket; subsequent replies in the same thread carry the same commitment. Calc exhaustion doesn't reduce your support window — if you're a Pro user out of calcs, your tickets still get the 2-business-day reply.

See the Support page for how to file a ticket and what to expect.

Quota visibility

Your remaining calcs are visible:

  • In the desktop app — top-right corner, next to the user avatar. Click the chip to open the full account & license panel.
  • In the Dashboard at solarlayout.app.

When your balance reaches zero, the next Generate click is gated — the cloud rejects the job with a quota error before any work starts, so you won't run a partial layout and find out at the end you couldn't afford it.
